UMass: Recent Remote Teaching and EdTech Articles from Torrey Trust and Jeromie Whalen

Two of Dr. Torrey Trust’s articles were selected for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Technology & Teacher EducationShould Teachers be Trained in Emergency Remote Teaching? Lessons Learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic, shares initial insights from research on educators’ experiences during this crisis and provides recommendations for how to better prepare and support educators for teaching remotely in times of need. This article was co-written by Jeromie Whalen, an incoming doctoral student in the Mathematics, Science, & Learning Technologies program and graduate of the Learning, Media, & Technology master’s program. In the second article, #RemoteTeaching & #RemoteLearning: Educator Tweeting During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Trust and co-authors examine two popular hashtags – #RemoteLearning and #RemoteTeaching. They detail initial findings from an early-stage study and offer recommendations for teacher professional development.
